With a background in construction law, Ali is also well-placed to assist clients seeking advice on acquisitions or landlord & tenant matters involving construction elements.

Notable transactions:

  • Acting for a property investor on the acquisition of industrial premises involving the variation of the seller’s option agreement, navigating sub-sale issues, negotiation of an agreement for lease and construction advice relating to the seller’s works.
  • Portfolio management for a property investor (industrial, retail and office premises) including the grant of new leases and lease renewals, negotiating wayleave agreements and dealing with tenants’ applications for consent.
  • Acting for a corporate occupier on the acquisition of a lease of office premises in London (at ~£300k annual rent)
  • Acting on the purchase of an office building for a corporate client involving the simultaneous grant of a 999-year sublease to a SIPP and an occupational sublease.

Prior to pursuing a legal career in England, Ali lived in Mauritius and in Canada and studied neuroscience and psychology at the University of Toronto.  In his spare time, he likes to follow mixed-martial arts sports.
