After obtaining a Masters Degree in law from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands, Femke practiced as a legal advisor in Dubai for three years before moving to England and qualifying as a solicitor here.  After gaining experience in commercial property (and, briefly, employment) law, Femke specialised in non-contentious construction law.

Femke is dedicated and experienced in her area and is passionate about providing a high-quality legal service to her clients that is focussed on results.  She has advised on a broad range of construction projects for a variety of clients, including on the refurbishment and development of offices, warehouses, distribution centres, manufacturing facilities, student accommodation, laboratories and residential care homes.

Notable transactions include :

  • Advising on a high-end student residential development providing 500+ bedrooms, communal facilities, landscaped courtyard and external works in Coventry.
  • Advising a large biomedical company on an agreement for lease (with extensive landlord refurbishment works) for their new 80,000 sq.ft. premises in Oxford, as well as on the client’s own extensive laboratory fit-out of the premises.
  • Acting for a large client in respect of an agreement for lease for the development of a new 195,000+ sq.ft. warehouse/ distribution centre with ancillary offices in Harrier Business Park, Hucknall.  
  • Advising a client on their development of a new warehouse and separate office building (approx. 175,000 sq.ft. and 17,000 sq.ft. respectively) in Bradley Business Park, Huddersfield.
  • Advising a client on an agreement for lease for the development of their new 115,000+ sq.ft. manufacturing, R&D and office headquarters in Dunsbury Park, Havant, as well as on the client’s own extensive fit-out of the premises. 
  • Advising a client on the development of their new global group headquarters in Cheltenham, consisting of the design and construction of a new multi-storey office wing (‘Outstanding’ BREEAM rating) with associated external works and the refurbishment of an ancillary listed building.
  • Advising a client on the development of a new residential care home in Slough. 
  • Advising a contractor client on the building contracts for their roof replacement works at a famous landmark building in London.
  • Acting for a tenant-client on an agreement for lease for the development of a new residential care home in Ipswich.
